A Fun Family Day at Lynd Fruit Farm: Celebrating The Great Apple Crunch

In honor of The Great Apple Crunch, we recently gathered some of our employees, along with their kids and families, for a fun-filled day at Lynd Fruit Farm, a local apple orchard in Central Ohio. It was a perfect fall day to get outside and enjoy one of Ohio’s favorite crops—apples!

The kids had a great time exploring the orchard, picking their own apples straight from the trees, and sampling different varieties. Whether it was the crisp sweetness of a Honeycrisp or the tart bite of a Granny Smith, there was something for everyone to enjoy. At the end of the day, each family took home bags full of fresh apples to share with their loved ones, keeping the apple fun going.

The Great Apple Crunch is celebrated annually during Farm to School Month in October, bringing awareness to the importance of fresh, local produce and healthy eating. Every second Thursday, thousands of people across Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota take a big bite out of local apples in a symbolic “crunch.” This event is all about connecting families, schools, and communities to local farms while promoting good nutrition. Ohio is aiming for a big turnout this year, with a goal of 350,000 crunchers across the state!

By taking our families to the orchard, we’re celebrating local farmers, promoting healthy habits, and fostering community connections. It was a great way to engage with the harvest season and remind ourselves of the importance of fresh, nutritious foods—starting with a simple apple! We’re proud to be part of this annual tradition and can’t wait to see how many crunchers we’ll have across Ohio this year.
