Meet Marc: Our May Brocc' Star

Our May Brocc’ Star is Marc Kirkes! Marc works in Warehouse 2 on the third shift. He has been working with food for most of his life – whether with fresh produce suppliers, storage facilities for various types of frozen items, or cooking in commercial kitchens. He recently celebrated 9 years working at DNO Produce.

Marc says he appreciates the opportunities that come with working at a small business and hopes to be part of DNO’s continued growth and success. He said that he plans to stay here until he retires.

His supervisor, Mark Wolfel said that “Marc is one of the best NAV users we have. He comes in early and stays until the job is done. He does whatever it takes to get the product out to the customer.”

Marc has been married since 1985; he and his wife have three sons and one grandson. They also have two cats, Princess and Jim, both of whom were once strays. Marc met Princess here at DNO and knew he wanted to take her home and give her a safe and comfortable life.

In his free time, Marc enjoys video games and drawing. His favorite game is The Sims. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, movie sets, and other types of architecture, he creates and shares custom buildings online. His designs gained enough attention to get an invitation from EA Games to playtest Sims 3 before its release.

He appreciates DNO because he feels that it offers a chance for associates to be themselves and tell their own stories while providing a valuable service to communities.
