Alex DiNovo Serves on DoD Fresh Program Panel for American Commodity Distribution Association

Alex DiNovo, President and COO of DNO Produce, recently sat down with the American Commodity Distribution Association (ACDA) to discuss the role of the DoD Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program in school nutrition. The discussion featured 3-panel members, Alex DiNovo, Justin Phifer, Assistant Manager of Food Distribution Programs for the state of New Jersey; and Callie Neumann, Anoka-Hennepin School District’s Assistant Child Nutrition Director.

The panel discussed the DoD Fresh Program and how schools can utilize entitlement dollars specifically for fresh produce purchases. They also addressed challenges around the distribution of fresh produce to schools, the unique nature of produce and seasonality, logistics around meeting the needs of schools, and much more.

DiNovo also serves on the ACDA conference planning committee. The upcoming ACDA conference is April 16th through the 19th in Anaheim, California.
